Plants for Terrariums

Plants for Terrariums

Moisture loving house plants are ideal for terrariums. You can reduce the root ball of terrariums plants, the perpetually moist environment will allow them to survive without harm. Choose low growing plants or pinch out taller growing plants to keep them short. Choose plants that have similar water, light and temperature requirements.

air plants

Air plants or Tillandsias belong to the bromeliad family of plants. They are a fascinating group of plants as most of them do not grow in soil, they do require water however. They make great terrarium plants.

We have open glass terrarium jars with wooden twisted stands. Closed jar terrariums become extremely humid in our warm climate and plants can become stressed. Open jars are much better suited to warmer climates.
